I’m always trying to figure out ways to utilize space in our kitchen. We have limited cabinet space and what seems to be a never ending amount of appliances stuffed in them. Recently, one of my cabinets was so packed full that when I opened it a glass coffee mug fell out and shattered everywhere and I mean e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. I knew there had to be a better storage solution for my pretty mugs.
I’ve seen people hang coffee mugs under cabinets before, but drilling holes into the cabinets of our rental wasn’t an option and was too permanent. Also, the hooks I found that were removable weren’t that cute. So, I decided to make my own.
Here’s what you’ll need. These are the specific hooks I recommend, because not all hooks have a big enough curve to hold cup handles. These hold my mugs perfectly.
First, you’ll want to affix the Command Strips together. Then, attach one side of the strip to the back of a hook. Attach the other side to under your cabinet. Be sure to leave the open part of the hook towards you when placing them under the cabinet. This way, it’s easier to grab the cups.
Place your first hook and hang a cup. It’s important to place a mug on the hook before attaching the rest of the hooks, so you get an idea of how to space them. You want just enough room so your mugs don’t touch one another.
Here’s the finished product. Such a simple way to create more cabinet space, while also making a cute little coffee bar.
